      Disposition:

»Loyalty & Dedication: At first glance, Hilbert comes across as such an elegant and dapper old fellow with a sense of eloquence but unfortunately, he's anything but that. Hilbert Ron Anjou is a sarcastic arrogant son of a bitch with a flair for dramatics. He's a bit of an asshole honestly, that much is apparent considering how much his colleagues upon the School Board loathe him. He drinks beers, smokes cigars, and sometimes swears like a sailor out at sea. However, Hilbert is a dedicated man who ultimately wants what's best for Cassell College. His dedication to the university is paramount along with his pledge to purge their world from the Dragons that threaten humanity. It's because of this that Hilbert is viewed less as an educator and more like a soldier instead. He's been fighting against the Dragons his entire life, constantly putting his very immortality on the line for the sake of the greater good. However, his infatuation with killing the remaining Dragons is what sets him apart from other hybrids. This is where a good chunk of the discord lies between Hilbert and the rest of the council. Hilbert ultimately wants to save humanity from ALL dragon-kind, even the hybrids.

»Self-hatred & Anger: In his opinion, all dragon hybrids, including himself, ought to be annihilated. He views his fellow hybrids as nothing more than a stain on humanity's ledger that needs to be cleansed. This kind of rhetoric fully displays the self-hatred Hilbert has for himself. He hates himself for being a hybrid. He always has and always will since the nature of a hybrids' creation lies within the ritualistic brutality of human women forced to lay with dragons. The reason behind this ugly practice is so rich families and clans could create powerful bloodlines using dragons' blood. His dislike for his fellow hybrids also stems from their hegemonic goals to rule the world and since he doesn't share in their beliefs, Hilbert is a considered a threat.

»Loneliness & Sarcasm: All talks of self-loathing aside, Hilbert comes across as a rather flippant and playful old soul with a definite mean streak. The type who takes delight in watching others squirm in his presence while also fostering a very devil may care persona among his colleagues. While he is indeed a rather intelligent and fascinating fellow, Hilbert uses violence and sarcasm to hide the fact he's a deeply hurt and lonely man. Hilbert is one of the oldest hybrids in existence and has thus seen plenty of horrors throughout his life that left him jaded. When his good friend Maneke died, a piece of Hilbert died with him along with countless others who have perished during this prolonged war against the dragons.

Despite his eccentric nature, there's still quite a bit of good left in Hilbert. It's just somewhat difficult to see it when Hilbert comes across as honestly unhinged more than half the time. While most of this is done in comedic fashion, Hilbert can be rather cruel if he doesn't like you. He's a force of nature. There's no stopping Hilbert once he gets in one of his moods.

»Protective: Yet despite it all, Hilbert isn't so jaded that he won't protect those he still holds dear. He's fiercely protective of the students of Cassell College, often throwing himself into battle on their behalf if necessary. He even acts as a mentor/guardian for the main character Lu Mingfei (also known as "Luminous") after Mingfei was abandoned by his remaining family members after a terrible misunderstanding. Hilbert even puts his reputation and career on the line for student Chu Zihang ( also known as "Johann Chu") after the boy managed to save the passengers of a crumbling rollercoaster by activating his Blood Rage skill during their impromptu trip to the amusement park.

Suitability: Thank you so much for contacting me! Here's the revision I made. It might a little lengthy but I just wanted to give some clarity.

Suitability: In regards to certain aspects of Noctium, Hilbert is going to struggle. The poor man going to have to cope with life here in this game. He's going to utterly hate this while synchrony stuff, especially when it comes down to the Phases and the many changes that come with it. He's not going to take being turned into a "monster" very well. If anything, he might be a little upset about that, especially since he prides himself on his humanity. It would honestly frazzle him quite a bit. Therefore, it will take some adjusting for him. I was hoping of exploring just how these changes would affect Hilbert since he is a slightly older character. If he suddenly goes missing during certain days throughout the month, people will certainly know why since he'll refuse to come outside looking like a bonafide freak show. Eventually, he'll get used to it but all in due time.

As for the need to synchrony, that would honestly be a bit of a challenge for him but a doable one. Hilbert isn't the touchy-feely type. He wouldn't like the idea of being so dependent on others since he's a rather independent individual. However, he's bound to latch onto one or two colleagues he can somewhat trust in such a scenario. Hilbert is a little guarded. He's not the type to be willing to invite others into his space unless he has no choice. Just like in a thread he had with Edamura in the IC Anon Meme, he's honestly scared to build new connections after losing everyone he loved during the war. It's bound to be a challenge for Hilbert but not an impossibility. Just expect him to complain about it at first.

Regarding some of the shifting political elements in this game, Hilbert will be of course on the side of the Gembond but he would somewhat empathize with the natives. It must be jarring for them to have to deal with so many new migrants to this realm, many of which won't be going back home any time soon. The constant flow of Gembonds is quite taxing on the resources here in Sumarlok, which would ultimately spark outrage from the Gems. Hilbert would suggest peace between the two but if peace isn't achievable, he won't hesitate to defend himself or other Gembonds like him. If anything, Hilbert might attempt to make an organization of some sort that could better address some of the issues Gembonds may face in the future. After all, this is the same man who made Cassell College. He's a one-man army, more ways than one. He'll find a way to overcome the odds eventually or struggle to try.

Condition upon arrival: Hilbert is coming into the game hale and whole! No lingering problems worth noting here.

      Abilities:

»BLADE MASTER: Unbeknown to many of his illustrious students, Hilbert is a proficient swordsman capable of wielding two swords at once. He's considered one of the greatest kendo masters in all of Japan. However, Hilbert seems capable enough to wield any type of blade as long it cuts. Hilbert typically shows off his ambidextrous swordsmanship style whenever he's wielding his prized swords Yin & Yang. He's your typical blade master through and through. Hilbert is capable of soaking up damage in combat while also dishing fierce melee damage.

»TIME ZERO: While Hilbert is a pretty fierce combatant with just his swords alone, his main skill resides within his EX/Kotodama ability called "Time Zero". Whenever Hilbert activates this skill, time stands still for him. He can freeze time in small intervals, allowing him to decimate his foes while they're frozen. However, this skill comes with severe limitations since Hilbert can only freeze time for about 300 seconds (five minutes) tops. If he attempts to go over 300 seconds, he'll start to convulse and spew blood. This ability is only meant to be used in small intervals but it's still rather powerful. He can freeze just about anything and anyone within 500 meters of him.

»TELEPORTATION: In lieu of his time manipulation abilities, Hilbert is capable of teleporting short distances in a flash of light. He can perform this skill in and out of combat even without his EX ability activated. His teleportation skills don't seem to have much of a limitation other than distance. He can't teleport across a mile but he certainly can teleport a few feet at a time. He recklessly uses this ability sometimes to avoid being late for work.

»INHUMAN STRENGTH: While Hilbert is no Superman, he's stronger than your average human thanks to his dragon bloodline. He has enough stamina to fight an onslaught of armed guards solo and still has energy enough to battle the dreaded Death Servitors. While he has his limits due to old age, Hilbert can slice through nearly anything with his swords and is known to be able to go toe-to-toe with full-fledged dragons. Let's just say arm wrestling him will be quite a challenge unless you're a modern superhero.

»HYPERSENSITIVITY: Thanks to the dragon blood coursing through his veins, Anjou has extremely accurate senses allowing him to hear, smell, taste, and feel better than just your normal human. However, his eyesight is allegedly quite poor since it has deteriorated over there long years. Even so, he can use his hearing to track down adversaries rather easily. His sense of smell isn't overly sensitive but he can track people and things short distances.

      Notes:
    • For anyone familiar with the MMORPG version of Dragon Raja, the game starts at Dragon Raja III: The Black Moon Tide, which is the current arc of the webcomic series.

    • In the game version of Dragon Raja, some of the main characters have varying different names. Anjou is no different since in the MMO he's called "Ron Anjou" instead of "Hilbert Jean Anjou" like the original novels. While both are indeed his canon names, I've decided to mix both into his name. That's why he's called "Hilbert Ron Anjou" instead of Jean. I honestly believe the "Jean" part has been reconned since the original novel.

    • While some dragon hybrids can indeed turn into dragons, many of them cannot due to the limitations of their human cells. It's quite taboo for anyone possessing dragon blood to become a dragon, hence why the Secret Party goes out of its way to fight and kill dragons. If a hybrid uses too much of their Blood Rage in combat, they run the risk of turning into either a dragon or a zombie-like Death Servitor.

    • Another key point about hybrids is that anyone who is a hybrid is capable of wielding a plethora of magic since dragons are inherently magical creatures. That explains why certain hybrids possess certain abilities. This is all thanks to their bloodlines. That's why Hilbert here is capable of stalling time. It's a form of draconic magic.

    • One fun fact, Anjou is multilingual as shown in his background. He can speak fluently in Greek and Latin but he's also surprisingly fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and English. According to the game and webcomic of Dragon Raja, most of Cassell College speaks either Chinese or English.
